Indigenous People (IP) of Botolan, Zambales have successfully and peacefully chosen their representative to the Sangguniang Bayan of Botolan Zambales in a selection proceeding held on July 27, 2019 at the People’s Park, Barangay Tampo, Botolan, Zambales.

Ladie Deleon, an Aeta representative, was selected amongst the four (4) candidates representing the fifteen (15) barangays of Botolan.  She will replace the incumbent Indigenous People Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Franklin Cariño who will end his term on August 9, 2019.

National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) team led by Provincial Officer of Zambales, Randy Q. Bernales facilitated the selection process, which was assisted by Atty. Roman Antonio, NCIP Legal Officer.  Meanwhile, LGOO VII Melissa D. Nipal of DILG Zambales served as observer during the process.  Also present during the activity is the team from the Philippine Army led by TSG Marlon Taccadan of the 33rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion.

Candelaria, Zambales - Members of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and the POPS Technical Working Group convened on July 25, 2019 at the Isla de Potipot Hotel and Beach Resort for the crafting of a draft POPS Plan for CY 2020-2022, which charts the three-year direction of the province that will fill in the gaps and shed light on peace and order and public safety issues and challenges in the province for the past years. Governor Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr., Provincial Administrator Omar Ebdane, PNP Provincial Director PCOL. Ponce Rogelio I. Penones Jr., DILG Zambales Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, PDEA Provincial Officer Marie Fe V. Manto, Col. Bagaporo, representatives from Philippine Army 3rd Mechanized Battalion, Provincial Jail Warden Tacdoy, International Police Commission (CSO), and Provincial Government’s Department Heads were all in attendance.

The Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan for 2020-2022 aims to improve the quality of life in the province, wherein social protection initiatives are strategized based on the current peace and order and public safety situation in the province, with the LGU’s mission and vision as the guiding light.

The DILG Zambales personnel participated in the conduct of the CY 2019 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) during their Mid-Year Assessment Review on June 20, 2019 at Verde Azul Leisure Resort, Morong, Bataan.

The drill started at exactly 2:30 PM with the ringing of alarm indicating ground shaking during an earthquake which gave prompt to the DILG Zambales personnel to readily perform the “duck, cover and hold”. When the alarm stopped, everyone cautiously went out and proceeded to the designated evacuation area where they assembled and conducted the headcount.

Based on the observations of LGOO VI Dan A. Esteban, Disaster Preparedness Provincial Focal Person, the conduct of the drill was successful and the execution of the standard procedures has improved compared to the past NSEDs.

Morong, Bataan. Committed in the fulfillment of the Department’s shared vision, mission, goals and quality policy, the DILG Zambales headed by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, conducted a two (2) day Mid-Year Assessment and Review on the Implementation of Locally- Funded Projects (LFPs) cum Team Building Activity for CY 2019 on June 20-21, 2019 at Verde Azul Leisure Resort, Morong, Bataan.

Planning Officer LGOO II Rose Ann D. Agostosa discussed the Semestral over-all accomplishment and targets and the Status of Locally-Funded Projects (LFPs).

Castillejos, Zambales. The Liga ng mga Barangay – Castillejos Chapter in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) conducted the “Emergency Evacuation Drill Seminar” on June 18, 2019 at the Rooftop of the Municipal Hall.

Facilitated by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and participated by Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC) of the fourteen (14) barangays of Castillejos, the activity was anchored on strengthening the capacity of the Barangay Officials towards disaster preparedness. The activity also became a venue in preparation for the conduct of the quarterly Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill scheduled on June 20, 2019.

LGOO VI Sheryl Ann Q. Dungca emphasized the roles of the barangay officials as front-line service providers and reiterated that the goal is always to have a zero casualty.

Aiming to improve the technical capacities on increasing revenue generation, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales carried out a two-day skills enhancement seminar entitled "Trainingon the New Local Revenue Code: Improving Revenue Generation Strategies of the Province of Zambales", which was funded under the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) Program. Said undertaking was conducted on June 18-19, 2019 at Vista Marina Hotel and Resort, Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) and was attended by Local Functionaries composed of Local Treasurers and Assessors from the thirteen (13) component municipalities and the Provincial Government.
