Subic, Zambales. Some 300 individuals joined the unity walk on July 21, 2017 in celebration of the National Disaster Consciousness Month with the theme “4Ks: Kamalayan sa Kahandaan, Katumbas ay Kaligtasan”. The activity aims to create awareness to the community on disaster preparedness and how the community can contribute in achieving a 1 Team, 1 Coordination, 1 Mission of having a 1 Resilient Subic. Series of activities are lined up whole year round to ensure that the community is prepared to any type of disaster according to MDRRM Officer John Carlo Ramos.
Headed by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, with representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP) Subic Police Station, Bureau of Fire (BFP) Subic Fire Station, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Sangguniang Bayan, Municipal employees, Subic Public Order and Safety Office (SPOSO) – Rescue, TMB and Marshall, barangay officials of the sixteen barangays, Kolehiyo ng Subic, Subic National High School, 4Ps Parent Leaders, volunteer groups: Kabayan Action Group, Subic CERT, Eagle ERT, despite the shower of rain, all gathered at the Tourist Spot in Barangay Calapandayan and passed to the National Hi-way on their way to Plaza Café’, Barangay Asinan Poblacion.
MLGOO Sheryl Ann Q. Dungca in her closing message thanked everyone for the display of support to the efforts of the MDRRMC chaired by the Honorable Mayor Jefferson F. Khonghun. She encouraged everyone to continue being “alerto at listo” at all times in order for us to achieve a disaster resilient Subic.
