As the frontline agency that advocates the shift of government to federalism, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Zambales under the leadership of Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V conducted the Federalism Forum/Orientation cum MASA MASID Municipal Launch on December 8 and 12, 2016 at the Ramon Magsaysay Technological University Gymnasium, Iba, Zambales.
The activity was attended by Mr. Laurence Edaño representative of Vice Governor Angelica Magsaysay-Cheng, DILG Legal Officer Atty. Pilipinas Baclayen, Mr. Leo Mayormita from the Zambales for Duterte Movement, MRRD NECC and PENAMFED Olongapo Chapter led by Mr. Henie S. Lei, Regional Liga ng mga Barangay President Col. Romelino R. Gojo. Municipal Mayors, Municipal Vice Mayors, Barangay Officials, Civil Society Organizations, Media and other guests.
LNB President Col. Gojo reminded the participants to actively listen saying that regardless of the form of government being pushed or implemented in the country, barangay governance is still important. “Magandang timing napag-usapan kung ano ang federalism”, said Col. Gojo.
The forum highlights the fundamentals of the federalism government along with its advantages and disadvantages compared to the unitary form of government.
The municipal launch of the Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa Iligal na Droga (MASA-MASID) Program was also held wherein the operational framework, purpose and implementation strategies were tackled.The event ended with the signing of the Pledge of Commitment by the participants.
