The DILG Zambales provincial office deployed the first batch of contact tracers (CTs) in the Municipality of Castillejos, Zambales on Oct 16, 2020 this after a series of capacity building activities were conducted to prepare the CTs prior to their deployment.

The newly hired CTs were welcomed by Municipal Mayor Eleanor D. Dominguez and the members of the Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force (MIATF) when they paid their courtesy call.

Mayor Dominguez shared, “dito sa Castillejos, immediately we conduct contact tracing once na may positive case tayo, hindi natin ito pinagpapa-bukas at dapat sumunod sa ating set protocols para iisa ang ating galaw.” She expressed that the hired CTs are welcome to the team since they will be of big help in the fight against COVID-19 probing those who are infected of the virus to trace their contactsprotecting others for possible exposure.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales­under the leadership of Provincial Director Armi V. Bactadinitiated the conduct of courtesy call of the first batch of DILG-hired and trained contact tracers (CTs) on Governor Hermogenes E. Ebdane, Jr. on October 13, 2020 held at Balin Sambali, Iba, Zambales.

Governor Ebdane expressed his support to the CTs by assuring them that they will be provided with personnel protective equipment (PPEs). He also assured them that in the event that they (CTs) contracted the virus, the Provincial Government will provide them and their families support and needs.

“Maybe, what we can tell you is that since you are volunteers and you are doing good for the community, ang sabi ko sa kanila (referring to his staff), if there will be employments later on, you will be prioritized”, Governor Ebdane pledged to the contact tracers.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales headed by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad — in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) Zambales — and Zambales Police Provincial Office (ZPPO) — conducted a follow-through online training for the 103 newly-hired contact tracers (CTs) on October 12, 2020 via Zoom meeting.

Ms. Helen Luna and Ms. Jocelyn Pascua of DOH discussed the COVID-19 Contact Tracing essentials including— protocols, safety procedures, proper conduct of interview, confidentiality and privacy of COVID-19 positive patients to be observed by the CTs in the conduct of contact tracing in the community. Meanwhile, PCPT Jan Reanel B. Romero, acting chief of police of the Iba Municipal Police Station shared the basic law enforcement interventions and basic rules and regulations to keep in mind while performing contact tracing duties.

"This program is the silver lining para sa mga nawalan ng trabaho kaya let us do our best. We at DILG Zambales is the only Province to conduct a follow through activity. We are doing our best para matulungan kayo na maging prepared sa trabaho," PD Bactad said in her message.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambalesheaded by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactadcommences on the general orientation of 105 qualified contact tracers (CTs) on October 3, 2020 via zoom video conferencing application.

PD Bactad officially welcomed the first batch of qualified contact tracers as part of DILG Zambales team.

"As member of the DILG Zambales team, we expect everyone to be very courteous sa pakikipag-usap sa inyong mga kasamahan, supervisors, and of course, sa mga local government units (LGUs) na kung saan kayo maaasign,”  PD Bactad stressed.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales Provincial Office— in collaboration with the local government unit of Botolan, Zambales and the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)— facilitated a workshop on the identification of priority programs, projects and activities (PPAs) for CY 2021 for the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) on September 21, 2020 at the Botolan People’s Plaza.

LGOO VI Jonnel B. Edillor provided an overview of the Executive Order No. 70 and the RCSP. 1Lt Marjoe Catulong of the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion discussed the situationer on insurgency of the target barangays; and Mr. Rodolfo L. De Los Reyesmunicipal planning and development coordinator shared the PPAs of the municipality for the concerned barangays to avoid possible duplication. The discussion emphasized that RCSP is a primary program in line with the government’s effort at the grassroots level— aiming to provide PPAs addressing the prevalent socio-economic and cultural problems in the communities.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Zambales advocated the Disiplina Muna advocacy campaign as one of the strategies to contain COVID-19 and uphold peace and order and public safety in the province of Zambalesduring the Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) and Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) meeting for the 3rd Quarter 2020 on September 23, 2020.

DILG Zambales Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, presented the salient features of the latest DILG issuances on COVID-19 and peace and orderhighlighting the culture of discipline towards defeating the COVID-19 pandemic through the Disiplina Muna’s BIDA ang may Disiplina: Solusyon sa COVID-19 advocacy campaign.
