The DILG Zambales provincial office deployed the first batch of contact tracers (CTs) in the Municipality of Castillejos, Zambales on Oct 16, 2020— this after a series of capacity building activities were conducted to prepare the CTs prior to their deployment.
The newly hired CTs were welcomed by Municipal Mayor Eleanor D. Dominguez and the members of the Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force (MIATF) when they paid their courtesy call.
Mayor Dominguez shared, “dito sa Castillejos, immediately we conduct contact tracing once na may positive case tayo, hindi natin ito pinagpapa-bukas at dapat sumunod sa ating set protocols para iisa ang ating galaw.” She expressed that the hired CTs are welcome to the team since they will be of big help in the fight against COVID-19— probing those who are infected of the virus to trace their contacts— protecting others for possible exposure.
The undertaking also served as an avenue for the MIATF to brief the CTs on the LGU protocol once there is a positive COVID-19 case. Likewise, the CTs were also reminded that the first thing they should prioritize is their own and their families’ safety— for themto effectively perform their duties and responsibilities with ease of mind. After the briefing, the new CTs were administered with flu vaccines and shall be provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) for added protection.
