DILG Zambales: Establishing partnership with SACZ

To establish partnership with the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the province of Zambales, the DILG Zambales headed by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V recently conducted an Orientation on Participatory Governance and Community Leadership to the members of Social Action Center of Zambales (SACZ), a non-government organization working with the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines- National Secretariat for Social Action (CBCP- NASSA) on May 10, 2018 at the DILG Provincial Office.
PD Bactad in her message conveyed her gratitude for the initiative of the organization to request for an orientation that will serve as their guide in the implementation of their programs and services in helping the needy sector of the society particularly the farmers and fisher folks in the province. She also reminded the participants that they are welcome to the department should they have any queries and activities to be conducted.
LGOO VI Stephanie Niña Navarro introduced the department and its programs and services to the participants. She also discussed CSO selection and accreditation processes while LGOO VI Cindy C. Cagalitan advocated for Federalism.
DILG Zambales intensifies its campaign of “Matino, Mahusay at Maaasahang” Barangay and SK Officials

In line with the upcoming 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on May 14, 2018, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)- Zambales team recently appeared as guest on the radio program “Patnubay sa Landas ng Buhay Program” of Radyo Natin 105.7 MHZ- Iba, Zambales on April 26, 2018 hosted by Bishop Virginio D. Ducos, DD.
The guesting aimed to encourage and remind the public not only to exercise their right of suffrage but also to vote for leaders who possess the qualities of being “Matino, Mahusay at Maaasahan” characsterized by Isko na Matino, Isay na Mahusay at Ana na Maaasahan which is in line with the Department’s brand personality.
DILG Zambales presented a checklist of the 3 qualities that the candidates must exhibit which shall also serve as voter’s guide in choosing the right candidates.
Furthermore, updates on Locally Funded Projects (LFPs) particularly on Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) Projects in Zambales were also discussed during the radio guesting.
BADACs GEARING UP TOWARDS A DRUG-FREE SUBIC

The Municipality of Subic in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and Philippine National Police conducted a “Drug Awareness and Barangay Drug Clearing Seminar” for the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADAC) of Subic, Zambales on April 4, 2018 at the Senior Citizens’ Building, Wawandue, Subic. The activity was anchored on strengthening the roles, functions, duties and responsibilities of BADACs in ensuring a drug free community and broadens their awareness on the present drug situation of the barangays.
LGOO VI Sheryl Ann Q. Dungca emphasized that the barangays, particularly the BADACs, play a vital role in the continuous campaign on illegal drugs. The efforts of the barangays in the surrender and identification of drug personalities should not be wasted, thus, there is a need to strengthen the functionality and capability of the barangay in the documentation and processing of barangay drug clearing. “Every step, no matter how small, will lead us closer to our goals”, she said.
Guest resource speaker, Mr. Glenn M. Guillermo of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region III, shared his expertise on drug awareness and process of drug clearing. “Being drug cleared is not a status symbol, it is a responsibility”, he said. Hon. Elizalde G. Rocafor, Chair of the Peace and Order Committee, and Subic Chief of Police were also present to give support and guidance to the BADACs.
