League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Zambales elect its Provincial Chapter Officers for the Term 2019-2022

Concerted efforts of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Zambales and League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) -Zambales Chapter paved the way for the overall success of the LMP Zambales Provincial Chapter Election for the term 2019-2022 held today, August 20, 2019 at Golden Dragon Restaurant, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
The election is pursuant to Section 21 of Article VIII of the New By-Laws of the LMP which provide for the creation of a Provincial Chapter which states that “All Municipal Mayors in every province shall convene in their capacity as representatives of their respective municipalities and elect their respective Provincial Chapter Officers from among themselves whose primary duty is to carry out all policies and instructions formulated by the National Executive Committee and/or the National Directorate”.
JUMPSTARTING PARTICIPATORY GOVERNANCE: DILG ZAMBALES AND PG ZAMBALES’ CONDUCT OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATION (CSO) CONFERENCE

In forming a sustainable foundation of good governance, it is not enough to concentrate on developing the internal capacity of local governments. It is equally important to develop and strengthen partnerships with CSOs in order to empower citizens to articulate their needs as they participate in the decision-making process, program planning, implementation and monitoring at the local level, which can increase the responsiveness and efficiency of local governments in delivering services.
With this, the Department of the Interior and Local Government- Zambales Provincial Office, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Zambales facilitated the conduct of CSO Conference pursuant to the issuance of DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2019-72 dated May 22, 2019 entitled “Guidelines on Accreditation of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Selection of Representatives to the Local Special Bodies (LSBs)” on August 16, 2019 at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Provincial Capitol, Iba, Zambales.
Advocating Civil Society Engagement in Local Governance

Zambales. Four hundred and thirty three (433) aspiring Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) seeking accreditation and membership to the Local Development Councils (LDCs) and other Local Special Bodies (LSBs) from across the province of Zambales were given orientation on the relevance of peoples’ active participation in local governance through the CSO Conference conducted last August 2-9, 2019.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales through the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs) in partnership with the thirteen (13) Local Government Units (LGUs) of Zambales facilitated the conduct of the CSO conference in their respective municipalities to boost awareness and understanding of CSOs on the importance of civil society participation and to increase their capacity to effectively engage in local governance.
