DILG ZAMBALES GEARS UP PROVINCE’S DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION EFFORTS THRU SDEC ESTABLISHMENT

Aiming to promote programs for drug abuse prevention with the end in view of educating the out-of-school-youth (OSY) and street children regarding the pernicious effects of drug abuse, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales headed by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, successfully carried out the 1-day “Orientation on the Establishment and Operation of Special Drug Education Center (SDEC) for Out of School Youth and Street Children” on July 28, 2021 via Zoom video conferencing platform.
The activity was participated in by the Provincial and Municipal Social Welfare Development Officers, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and Liga ng mga Barangay Federation Presidents, Representatives from the Local Health Office, Department of Education (DepEd), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), PNP Women and Children Desk Officers, and LGU Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Focal Persons—who will be partners and key implementers of the SDEC facility. The said undertaking then served as a venue to capacitate the key implementers of the said facility.

DILG, PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF ZAMBALES JOIN HANDS IN ENSURING QUALITY IMPLEMENTATION OF FY 2020 CMGP PROJECTS IN THE PROVINCE

To ensure that the Locally Funded Projects in the Province of Zambales are implemented in accordance with the required technical specifications and are constructed in conformance to quality assurance standards, the DILG Zambales Provincial Monitoring Team (DILG-PMT) led by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, conducted a joint on-site inspection with the Provincial Government of Zambales thru the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) for the FY 2020 Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) projects on July 19-22, 2021.
Zambales have been a recipient of this program since 2016 which started as Konkreto at Ayos na LanSAngan and DAan Tungo sa Pangkalahatang Kaunlaran (KALSADA) Programand transitioned to Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) programthat aims to improve the poor state of provincial roads and enhance the competency level of the province when it comes to local road management and public financial management.
DILG ZAMBALES, DILG OLONGAPO CITY SCALE UP CONTACT TRACING EFFORTS OF LGUs

To further scale-up contact tracing efforts of the local government units (LGUs), the DILG Zambales led by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, in coordination with the DILG Olongapo City headed by City Director Amada T. Dumagat, conducted the “Provincial Roll Out on Enhancing COVID-19 Contact Tracing Work: Advanced Guide for Local Governments and Contact Tracers” on July 14, 2021 via zoom meeting platform.
Over 447 participants were trained which is composed of DILG-hired Contact Tracers, LGU Contact Tracers, together with Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel acting as contact tracers, members of Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) and LGU volunteers from the province of Zambales and Olongapo City.
The said undertaking aimed to provide the contact tracers with advanced guide and practical skills set in conducting case investigation, efficient identification and tracking of close contacts and data management and analysis—as effective contact tracing remains as one of the key public health tools to stop the chain of transmission.
