DILG ZAMBALES PAVES THE DEFINITIVE GUIDELINES FOR THE FORMULATION OF PEACE AND ORDER AND PUBLIC SAFETY (POPS) PLAN FOR CY 2020-2022

Members of the Provincial and Municipal Peace and Order Councils (P/MPOC) of Zambales, together with their Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plan Technical Working Group convened on August 27-29, 2019 at the Vista Marina Hotel Subic Bay Freeport Zone for the Training Workshop on the Formulation of POPS Plan for 2020-2022. The said plan charts their respective administration’s three-year direction that will fill in the gaps on peace and order and public safety issues and challenges in their localities. Present in the three-day activity were DILG Zambales Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, PNP Provincial Director PCOL. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., PDEA Provincial Officer Marie Fe F. Manto, representatives from Philippine Army 3rd Mechanized Battalion. Also in attendance were Hon. Luisito Marty, Hon. Preciliano Ruiz, Hon. Leo John Farrales, municipal mayors of LGUs of Sta. Cruz, San Antonio, and San Felipe, respectively.
The Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan for 2020-2022 aims to improve the quality of life in the province, wherein social protection initiatives are identified and prioritized based on the current peace and order and public safety situation, with the LGU’s mission and vision as the guiding light.
Young Legislators of Zambales elect new set of officers

19 young legislators from across the province of Zambales composed of Vice Mayors, Board Members, Sangguniang Bayan Members and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation Presidents successfully elected their new set of Provincial and Regional Officers during the conduct of the Simultaneous Regional and Provincial Reorganization of National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL) Local Chapters on August 22-24, 2019 at Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City.
The election is in accordance with DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2019-109 and NMYL Amended Constitution and By Laws regarding the Manner of Election for the Provincial and Regional Assembly/ Reorganization which states that election shall be simultaneously conducted and shall be held within 120 days from assumption to office.
DILG Zambales Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V served as the Provincial NMYL COMELEC Chairperson together with Atty. Rey Christopher Fajardo of NMYL and ADAS II Paulin Johanne L. Reyes as NMYL COMELEC Members.

Ensuring Progress at the Barangay Level thru Monitoring of the Functionality of the Barangay Development Councils (BDCs)

To further assist the Local Government Units (LGUs) in assessing the effectiveness of the performance of the Barangay Development Councils (BDCs), DILG Zambales spearheads the conduct of Orientation on the Guidelines in the Monitoring of the Functionality of the BDCs for the Municipal Assessment Teams (MATs) on August 22, 2019 at Balin Sambali, Iba, Zambales.
LGOO VI Cindy C. Cagalitan and LGOO VI Kristine Joy B. Pesimo discussed the DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2019-69 entitled “Guidelines in the Monitoring the Functionality of the BDCs” emphasizing the roles of the Municipal Assessment Teams (MATs), assessment process and indicators in determining the functionality of the BDCs.
Barangay Development Council (BDC), considered as the mother of all special bodies in the barangay being the umbrella of all barangay-based institutions (BBIs), assists the Sangguniang Barangay in setting the direction of economic and social development at the barangay level.
