LINIS ZAMBALES: DILG JOINS 2017 INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP DAY

The DILG Zambales joined the thousands of volunteers during the observance of the 2017 International Coastal Clean-Up (ICC) Day on September 16, 2017, the largest gathering of volunteers worldwide which aims to reduce the impacts of marine debris that contribute to climate change and biodiversity loss.
The event was supported by Executive Order No. 42 issued by Governor Amor D. Deloso with the title “Establishing the 3rd Saturday of the month of September of every year as Zambales Coastal Clean-Up Day and Dedicating the 16th day of September 2017 for the Launching of Zambalinis”.
Participants and volunteers led by Governor Deloso together with the government officials and employees from the national, provincial, municipal and barangays, students from private and public schools including colleges and universities, CSO’s, NGO’s and beach owners trooped their respective clean-up sites to clean and remove all kinds of trash found along the seashores, coastlines, rivers, creeks, drainages and canals in the entire Province of Zambales.
Numerous sacks of garbage and trash containing non-biodegradable and other materials such as plastics, glass and metals were collected and recorded on the ICC data cards provided to the participants. All information, issues and concerns gathered during the said clean-up will be used in helping our lawmakers formulate policies and raise awareness to the worsening environmental problem that we encountered nowadays.
DILG ZAMBALES LEADS THE “ROAD TO DEVELOPMENT”

The Department of the Interior and Local Government- Zambales in coordination with the Provincial Government of Zambales facilitated the conduct of the “Follow-Through Activity on Local Road Mapping and Completion of Local Road Network Development Plan (LRNDP)” on October 9-13, 2017 at Vista Marina Hotel, SBFZ to ensure the completeness of the road database with a digitized road network map of the whole province.
The activity attended by the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, Municipal Engineer, Municipal Assessor, GIS personnel and, technical staff from the thirteen (13) municipalities of Zambales is in line with the new economic agenda of the national government and will serve as basis in identifying the future local road projects of the LGUs.
DILG Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V in her message emphasized that the output of the activity is in preparation for the future projects of the provincial and municipal governments and to meet with the target of the national government to have all road network paved by the year 2022. “Ito ay para siguradong maramdaman at makita ng bawat mamamayan na ang Pilipinas ay umaasenso”, said PD Bactad.
Representatives from the DILG Central Office - OPDS provided technical assistance and gave comprehensive discussions on GPS, GIS, QGIS and the actual mapping of road network. The participants are expected to accomplish their digitized road network map by October 29, 2017 to complete the Provincial Road Network Development Plan of Zambales.
NAGKAKAISANG BARANGAY SA ASEMBLIYA 2017: MAKIISA! MAKILAHOK! MAKIALAM!

In consonance with the DILG Memorandum Circular 2017-123, the Synchronized Barangay Assembly for the 2nd semester was held on October 8, 2017 with Barangay Biay, Sta. Cruz, Zambales as the Provincial Showcase Barangay of Zambales following the theme “Nagkakaisang Barangay: Lakas ng Kampanya Kontra sa Iligal na Droga, Krimen at Katiwalian, Makiisa! Makilahok! Makialam!
Punong Barangay Samuel M. Marila comprehensively delivered his State of Barangay Address (SOBA) witnessed by around 480 attendees highlighting the different accomplishments of the barangay for the first semester of 2017 in the areas of Peace and Order, Health, Education, Disaster Preparedness, Environment and Financial matters of the Barangay.
Out of those accomplishments, PB Marila emphasized the campaign to strengthen the fight against illegal drugs thru the establishment of Barangay Referral Desk and installation of dropbox inside the Barangay Hall in addition to the created MASA MASID Team and BADAC Committee on Operation and Advocacy.
He urged the active participation of everyone to the barangay programs and activities which will further contribute to the development and success of the community. “Iniiwan ko sa inyo ang hamon na patuloy na mangarap at kami ay tulungan tungo sa gusto nating pagbabago”, said PB Marila.
LGOO III Christian Red D. Mejia conveyed the message of DILG OIC-Secretary Catalino S. Cuy to the barangays. “Susi sa adhikain ng kasalukuyang administrasyon ng ating Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang isang bansang mapayapa na may pagkakaisa ng mga barangay at may ibayong kooperasyon ng mga mamamayan”, said OIC-Secretary Cuy in his message.
The Community Based Rehabilitation Program, Human Trafficking and techniques on the prevention and suppression of fire incidences were also discussed by the representatives from the local PNP and BFP.
