Barangay Binoclutan, Botolan, Zambales held its weekly clean-up drive on December 14, 2024, as part of its recognition as the Regional Showcase for the Barangay at Kalinisan Day (BARKADA) Program.
Led by Punong Barangay Fernando D. Oñate, Jr., sanggunian barangay members and residents gathered along the barangay's shorelines to carry out the clean-up activity. Also in attendance were Hon. Arthur Daria, Sangguniang Bayan Member; Ms. Annadine E. Manzanires, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO); LGOO VI Nedricks P. Canlas, MLGOO of Botolan; personnel from the DILG Zambales Provincial Office; as well as several volunteer groups and individuals.
"Ang KALINISAN (which stands for Kalinga at Inisyatiba Para sa Malinis na Bayan) sa Bagong Pilipinas Program ay hindi lamang tungkol sa paglilinis ng ating kapaligiran. Ito po ay simbolo ng ating sama-samang pagkilos para sa malinis, mas ligtas, at mas maunlad na Pilipinas," LGOO V Aljon S. Bautista of DILG said, as he reiterated the National Government’s initiative to rekindle the spirit of bayanihan and promote a safe and clean environment.
Ms. Annadine E. Manzanires, MENRO, also took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of the LGU Botolan's ‘Pera sa Basura’ Program: Junkshop on Wheels. This initiative helps reduce waste by purchasing recyclable materials and plastic waste from residents, contributing to the reduction of pollution, particularly in the oceans.
The activity was deemed a success, with every participant showcasing the barangay's strong commitment to environmental cleanliness and community collaboration under the KALINISAN program.
