MASA-MASID PROGRAM: Strengthening the fight against ILLEGAL DRUGS

The DILG Zambales headed by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, facilitated the conduct of the Strengthening of the Mamamayan Ayaw Sa Anomalya – Mamamayang Ayaw Sa Iligal na Droga (MASA- MASID) Technical Working Group (TWG) Orientation on the Revised Guidelines on the Implementation of MASA- MASID Program and on the Execution of Its Provincial Action Plan on December 1, 2017 held at the Conference Hall, College of Law Bldg., Ramon Magsaysay Technological University, Iba, Zambales.
The activity aimed to intensify the advocacy against corruption, illegal drugs, criminality and violent extremism and other threats to peace and security in the province through the MASA-MASID Program.
The Municipal Chief of Police and the representatives of the Local Government Units’ (LGUs) MASA-MASID Technical Working Group (TWG) from the thirteen municipalities of Zambales and Olongapo City attended the said activity. MASA- MASID Project adopts a multi-sectoral and mass-based approach to heighten volunteerism in the eradication of the menaces of the society to achieve peaceful, orderly and safe communities.
PD Bactad recognized the cooperation of the participants in the activity and stressed that the Government is encouraging the participation of all LGUs specifically the barangays to safeguard the fight against illegal drugs. “Tayo po ang mga team players na siyang mangunguna pagbalik sa kanya-kanyang mga LGUs na tutulong sa ating mga barangays para masigurong maipatupad natin ng maayos, matiwasay at mahusay ang mga programa tungkol sa illegal drugs” said PD Bactad.
The orientation focused on the discussion of the MASA-MASID Program Overview, group compositions and responsibilities which was discussed by DILG Zambales MASA-MASID Alternate Focal Person William Villena and LGOO II Vincent E. Catacutan of DILG Olongapo. In addition, Anti-Drug Programs, Initiatives and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) Drug Learning Parameters were presented by LGOO V Stephanie Niña Navarro.
The participants expressed their support onthe program through their Municipal Plan of Action on the implementation of the MASA-MASID Program in their respective municipalities.
DILG ZAMBALES: FORGING STRONG COMMITMENT OF LGUs TOWARDS SUCCESS OF LOCALLY FUNDED PROJECTS

The DILG Zambales, headed by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, spearheaded the conduct of the Follow-through Activity on Locally Funded Projects (LFP) Forum on November 29, 2017 at Vista Marina Hotel, SBFZ to ensure that the commitments of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the implementation and completion of LFPs in their respective municipalities will be achieved.
The Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers, Municipal Accountants, Municipal Agriculture Officers and Municipal Engineers from the thirteen municipalities of Zambales together with the representatives from the different National Government Agencies such as Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) attended the said forum.
PD Bactad in her opening message appreciated the participation and cooperation of all the participants in the activity. The need to complete the LFP Projects in all the municipalities before the Fiscal Year 2017 ends was emphasized by PD Bactad. “Magkaisa tayo sa pagpapaunlad ng ating bansa”, said PD Bactad.
DILG Program Officer Engr. Rose Ann Agostosa presented the updated status of the FY 2014-2016 Locally funded Projects of each municipality. In addition, the Region III focal persons from each NGAs presented the status of the Bottom up Budgeting (BuB) projects where the LGUs raised their concerns during the open forum.
With the continuous reminders and agreed commitments, the DILG Zambales continues to support the LGUs in ensuring 100% project completion rate by the end of 2017.
Planning Actions for Listong Pamayanan: Community Drill

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales through the leadership of Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, conducted a “Preparatory Meeting for the Conduct of Listong Pamayanan: Community Drill” on November 16, 2017 at the DILG Zambales Provincial Office, Iba, Zambales.
The meeting was attended by the Listo Team members of the Provincial Government of Zambales and the Municipal Governments of San Marcelino and Subic composed of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers, Fire Marshals, Chief of Police and Municipal Local Government Operations Officers.
In her message, Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V emphasized the objective of the community drill is to strengthen the disaster preparedness of the communities. “Component ito ng Operation Listo na ang purpose ay palakasin ang preparedness ng community in times of disaster”, said PD Bactad.
It was agreed that the community drills at Barangay Aningway-Sacatihan, Subic and Barangay Rizal, San Marcelino are scheduled on December 5 and 8, 2017, respectively.
