Presidential Proclamation No. 260 series of 2011, declared the last Saturday of March and 2nd Sunday of October 2011 and every year thereafter as Barangay Assembly Days and in line with the celebration of the Local Government Code Anniversary with the theme “Matatag na Republika sa LGU ang Simula” Barangay Carael, Botolan was chosen as the Zambales Provincial Showcase for the conduct of barangay assembly on October 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The event was conducted at Carael barangay hall with the council and volunteers headed by Punong Barangay Ana Lisa D. Jaring.
Accomplishment on disaster preparedness, social services, peace and order and solid waste management; updates on on-going programs and projects; and financial status were presented to the three hundred eighty five (385) residents who attentively listened and participated. The attendees discussed their concerns and provided recommendations on how to further improve barangay services.
In his message Regional Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) President Romelino R. Gojo stressed the importance of the assembly to come up with comprehensive plans and programs. MLGOO Cindy C. Cagalitan conveyed SILG Mel Senen S. Sarmiento’s message to the assembly emphasizing that it is a way of building a transparent, accountable, and participative government. While, Municipal Administrator Doris D. Ladines commended the residents of Carael for their eagerness and fervor to help their barangay. Sangguniang Bayan Member Gregorio Jaring also graced the activity.
The barangay officials also distributed relief packs they had solicited from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 3 to the attendees to provide assistance this rainy season.
