Amungan, Iba, Zambales has successfully conducted its Barangay Kalinisan Day (BarKaDa) Clean-up on April 6, 2024 as it was chosen as the Regional Showcase Barangay for the 13th Week implementation of the Kalinisan sa Bagong Pilipinas Program in Central Luzon.
Headed by Punong Barangay Richard N. Redondo, Barangay Amungan has displayed the commitment of its local officials and residents to uphold cleanliness and environmental sustainability in their community.
A short program was held at the Amungan Barangay Plaza before the actual clean-up which was attended by Hon. Irenea M. Binan, Municipal Mayor of Iba, PB Richard Redondo and its Council, LGOO VI Lianne Abegail T. Muñoz, MLGOO of Iba, all DILG Zambales Provincial Office Personnel, and various residents and volunteer groups.
PB Redondo highlighted in his speech the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the barangay, and stressed that cleanliness starts at home, “...ang panawagan nga sa ating lahat, ang kalinisan ay nagsisimula sa ating mga sarili, sa loob ng ating mga bakuran, kaya ipagpatuloy natin itong nasimulan na nating gawain.” He then encouraged everyone to ensure that their backyards are well-maintained.
In her message, Hon. Binan underscored the unity and teamwork of the barangay officials and residents of Barangay Amungan, especially in maintaining the cleanliness of their community. She also mentioned that she had witnessed the Bayanihan spirit which resulted in Barangay Amungan being the pioneer and best example of cleanliness in the municipality of Iba.
LGOO VI Muñoz also expressed her gratitude on behalf of the DILG to the residents of Barangay Amungan for their continuous participation in every barangay activity, and wished that it would be sustained for the benefit of their community.
As a momentous testimony for the continuous success of the implementation of the BarKaDa Clean-up, a pledge of commitment was recited by everyone present during the program.
The Kalinisan sa Bagong Pilipinas Program is a convergence initiative to consolidate all efforts of the government to maintain and provide a healthy and safe environment for all by capacitating local government units and enabling community participation anchored on the tradition of Bayanihan.
As Barangay Amungan paves the way for cleaner communities, their dedication serves as an inspiration for others to follow suit, reaffirming the collective responsibility of all citizens towards environmental sustainability and community welfare.
