The batch of the newly-elected barangay officials from the Municipalities of Cabangan, Candelaria, and San Marcelino, Zambales were trained under the Barangay Newly-Elected Officials (BNEO) towards Grassroots Renewal and Empowerment Accountable and Transparent (GREAT) Barangays Program from March 6-8, 2024 at the Subic Bay Peninsular Hotel, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
The training was spearheaded by the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) Zambales Provincial Chapter through LnB President Nestor E. Pacheco in collaboration with the DILG Zambales. Likewise, DILG Regional Director Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III graced the said activity.
The course covered essential topics with resource speakers from the DILG were:
-The Basics of Republic Act No. 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991
-The Barangay Development Planning (BDP) and Capacity Development Agenda
-The Barangay Budget
-Participation in Governance through Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs) and Volunteerism
-DILG’s Programs, Projects and Activities (PPAs) and activities for Barangays
-Public Ethics and Accountability
-The Barangay Agenda for Governance and Development (B-AGAD)
A team of the DILG Region III Local Government Capability Development Division, Assistant Division Chief LGOO VI Darryl Salvador, LGOO IV McGyver T. David and Ms. Mhey Tanhueco were also present as part of their monitoring in the simultaneous conduct of BNEO Program in the region.
In the closing ceremony, a Plaque of Recognition was given to DILG Zambales by the Liga ng mga Barangay - Zambales Chapter in recognition of their exceptional contribution for the three batches of training of BNEO Program in the province.
