With the goal for an expedient implementation of this year’s highly anticipated Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Assessment, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales in coordination with the Provincial Government of Zambales conducted a Provincial Orientation for the concerned Local Government Unit (LGU) Functionaries on May 5, 2023 at the E-Library Building, President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU), Iba, Zambales.
In his opening remarks, Provincial Director of DILG Zambales, Martin Porres B. Moral, CESO V encouraged the LGUs to aim high. He further mentioned that the efforts invested to elevate their ratings just mean that they are providing the right service for the people.
LGOO II Paulin Johanne Reyes comprehensively discussed all the indicators under the ten (10) SGLG governance areas namely: Financial Administration and Sustainability, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, Sustainable Education, Business- Friendliness and Competitiveness, Safety, Peace and Order, Environmental Management, Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts, and Youth Development. Meanwhile, Cluster Team Leader LGOO VII Melissa D. Nipal provided further guidance and clarifications on the indicators presented.
Moreover, the issues and concerns raised by the participants were adequately addressed and the DILG Zambales team guaranteed their assistance throughout the assessment season and encouraged everyone to keep up the good work and to have faith for a successful evaluation.
The said orientation was actively participated by the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) and designated SGLG LGU Focal Person of the 13 municipalities, Department heads and personnel of the Provincial Government of Zambales, Civil Society Organization (CSO) and representatives from the Zambales Police Provincial Office (ZPPO), and Department of Education (DepEd).
