                 AN AUDIO VIDEO PRESENTATION    

The Local Government here, through the City Information Office (CIO) and the Department of  the Interior and Local Government (DILG) , has conducted an information and communications seminar for barangay-based information officers recently at Shanghai Palace Restaurant.

City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, in his message during the Seminar Training on Strengthening the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) last April 26-27, 2012, has recognized the importance of KP as one of the most valuable mechanisms available in administering justice, advancing human rights protection, resolving and mediating conflict at the barangay level.

After an in depth study of its capabilities, the city has improved its capacity to render basic services and promote good governance to its constituents.

This was shown during the recent Utilization Conference for the Local Governance Performance Management System (LGPMS) for profile year 2011 held on April 23, 2012 at the Shanghai Palace Restaurant, Balibago, this city.

  The Sangguniang Barangay is the legislative body in the grassroots. They play an important role in the development of the city. As part of the program of the DILG in Capacity Development, the Sharpening the Saw was initiated for the barangay officials.  The Councilmen League of Angeles City (CLAC), through close coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Angeles City and  in support of the City Government of Angeles conducted the Enhancing the Proficiency of Barangay Officials on Local Legislation last April 15-18, 2012 at Venus Park Hotel, Baguio City.

 In the effort of Angeles City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) to further promote peace and order and ensure public safety in the City, Honorable Mayor Ed Pamintuan, Chairman of the CPOC and Honorable Vice Mayor Maria Vicenta-Vega Cabigting, Vice Chairman of the CPOC organized a two-day Orientation-Workshop on Crisis Management and Integrated Community Public Safety Plan for the members of the council on March 29-31, 2012 at the Lohas Hotel, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. The City Peace and Order Council is composed of representatives from partner NGAs, NGOs and stakeholders.
Mayor Pamintuan, in his inspirational message said that peace and order in the city will continue to be one of his priorities in his administration. He congratulated Dir. Myrvi A. Fabia of DILG-Angeles City for her big role in organizing the orientation-workshop. He was also very happy with the reports from PNP that the crime rate of the city decreased and the crime solution increased.


Criminality, Terrorism/Insurgency and Illegal Drugs situation of the city were presented by Capt. Josef Leo Angeles of PNP, Col. Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. of AFP and Agent Blesi Talavera of PDEA respectively. This will guide them to strategize in their formulation of Integrated Community Public Safety Plan (IACPSP). Ms. Lerrie S. Hernandez, DILG R-3 Monitoring and Evaluation Division Chief, served as resource speaker for the topic. Col. Orlando Yebra on the other hand will discuss crisis management.

 

The orientation-workshop was conducted with an end-view of a more peaceful and orderly Angeles City.
