The SGLG also known as "Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal," originated from the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) provides greater challenge to local government units to continue and step-up their good governance practices. It is awarded to provincial, city and municipal governments in recognition of its good performance in transparency, honesty and diligence in delivery of basic services to their respective constituents.

In order for the LGU to be conferred with the SGLG, it must pass all three (3) core assessment areas (Good Financial Housekeeping, Disaster Preparedness, and Social Protection) and any one (1) of the essential assessment areas (Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness, Peace and Order, and Environmental Protection).

DILG Undersecretary Panadero mentioned that a total of 1,372 or 84 percent of LGUs nationwide have met the minimum requirements of Good Financial Housekeeping. USEC Panadero stated that these LGUs promote transparency and trustworthiness in delivering quality services to the public.
