                 AN AUDIO VIDEO PRESENTATION    

   The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), thru the Office of Project Development Services (OPDS), Central Office, conducted a Seminar-Workshop the Operation and Maintenance of Water Supply System for LGUs on June 17-20, 2014 at Maharajah Hotel, Angeles City, Pampanga.  The 3-day activity, hosted by DILG Region 3, aimed to increase the capability of the LGU officials and functionaries in operating and maintaining their water supply system particularly on enhancing their understanding of the concepts, processes, and methodologies involved in the operations and maintenance of the facility.  It was participated in by the LGU beneficiaries of SaLinTubig from Regions 1, 2, 3 and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).  Participants were Municipal Mayors, Sanggunian Bayan Members Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, Municipal Accountant, Municipal Engineer and Project and Development Monitoring Unit (PDMU) staff from DILG Regional Offices.    

   Regional Director Florida M. Dijan, in her welcome message, emphasized the importance of the activity for the participants to know more about the SaLinTubig Program. She proudly mentioned that the infra-projects of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Region III, like the SALINTUBIG, were visited by DILG Secretary Mar Roxas. 

   LGCDD Chief Martin Porres B. Moral discussed the overview of the activity where he stressed that one priority concern of the DILG is the sustainability of its projects to LGUs. He also stated that the activity is part of DILG’s mandate on LGU Capacity Building.

 One of the significant activities of the workshop was a field visit on the facilities of Muňoz Water District (MWD) and Central Luzon State University (CLSU) where the participants had the chance to experience the actual operation of a Water Supply System, specifically the calibration of water meter, extraction of ground water, water testing and the treatment of ground water. The technical personnel of MWD discussed on how to operate the facility and shared their experience on water system operations and maintenance. 

   At the end of the activity, each LGU was tasked to prepare and present the Profile of their Water Supply System based on the topics and guidance of Muňoz Water District. This includes their mission and vision as well as basic information regarding their water system and their tariff structure that will guide them in their operations.
