The 1,799 newly-elected SK Officials were given certificate of training completion after attending and completing the Sangguniang Kabataan Mandatory Training (SKMT). The 13 LGUs of Zambales concluded the SKMT on November 13, 2023 through an on-site activity.
The SKMT focused on the three (3) modules which tackle about Decentralization and Local Governance, SK History and Salient Features of RA 10742, Meetings and Resolutions, Planning and Budgeting, and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards. The accredited Local Youth Development Officers (LYDOs) served as the Training Managers while the capable Local Department Heads and Local Government Operations Officers were tapped to serve as Resource Persons.
DILG Provincial Director Martin Porres B. Moral stirred the SK Mandatory Trainings of the 13 LGUs by challenging the members of the Sangguniang Kabataan, “…kayo ay pinagkatiwalaan ng mga miyembro ng Katipunan ng Kabataan, kaya naman, inaasahan na kayo ay maglilingkod sa abot ng inyong makakaya. Your services to your fellow youth must always be responsive to their needs. Is that challenge accepted?”
Under the SK Reform Law, any SK official, whether elected or appointed, must complete the mandatory training program administered by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and National Youth Commission (NYC), before he or she can assume office.
