The Municipality of Castillejos once again convened its Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) cluster on January 27, 2022 at the Rooftop of the Municipal Hall, Barangay San Juan, Castillejos, Zambales to discuss and formulate strategies addressing key topics impacting peace and order and security in the municipality.
The POPS Cluster is composed of the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC), Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC), Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women (LCAT-VAW), Municipal Solid Waste Management Board (MSWMB) and the Local Project Monitoring Council (LPMC).
POPS Cluster Chairperson and Municipal Mayor Eleanor D. Dominguez presided over the meeting, which included reports, updates, and plans for the year 2022 from Police Major Gian Napoleon Baquiran of the Castillejos Municipal Police Station, PDEA Zambales Provincial Officer Jigger Juniller, Sgt. Randy Baldoz of Philippine Army, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rodney Sarmiento, Fire Officer 3 Othello Victor Cabacar of the Bureau of Fire Protection, SPOO Melvin Fantone and Engr. Jefferson Pino of the Municipal Engineering Office, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Pinky Ayson, Municipal Agriculturist Janice Sardo, Department of Education (DepEd) representative Mario Celis, and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Sheryl Ann Q. Dungca. The activity served as an avenue for the in-depth discussion on measures pertaining to the fight against COVID19, ASF, preparation of the schools for the resumption of classes and DILG issuances, respectively.
Honorable Vice Mayor Rizal G. Salih, Jr., POPS Vice-Chair, welcomed the councils' accomplishments as well as the presentation of the year's goals. He expressed that by stating the targets, thecluster becomes aware of the municipality’s directionand will be guided in accomplishing its goals.
Mayor Dominguez reprised the Vice Mayor's statement and assured everyone of her complete support for the continued success of the POPS Cluster's various programs, projects, and activities. In her final remarks, Mayor Dominguez continued, "Lagi natin itong sinasabi na kung tayo ay magsa-sama-sama, kayang-kaya natin ito."
The cluster meeting is carried out to facilitate smooth coordination and resolution of issues such as peace and order, campaign on anti-illegal drugs, insurgency, disaster preparedness, violence against women, children in conflict with the law, solid waste, infrastructure projects, health, food safety, and preparation for the return of face-to-face classes.
