Botolan, Zambales Municipal Mayor Doris E. Maniquiz, together with the local government unit’s Public Order and Safety (POPS) cluster called on the stakeholders’ participation in promoting the safety, health and wellness of the Botoleños’ by doing their share to ramp up the vaccination turnout of the municipality— during its 4th quarter 2021 joint Municipal Peace and Order Council, Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council, Municipal Task Force- End Local Communist Armed Conflict and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council meeting on December 2, 2021 at the Municipal Hall Grounds.

Mayor Maniquiz, in her message underscored that vaccination remains the top protection of oneself especially that a new variant, Omicron has been detected and may also reach the country in a matter of time.

“Patuloy po tayong mag-iingat lalo ngayon na may bagong variant na mas nakakahawa. Kung kaya’t mahalaga na tayo po ay magpapabakuna. Tayo po ay medyo nahuhuli sa buong lalawigan.. mababa ang case natin ng pagpapabakuna, kaya nakikiusap po ako dahil ito lamang po ang paraan upang makaiwas tayo sa malubhang sakit… para na rin po mag-normalize na ang ating pamumuhay, once magkaroon tayo ng herd immunity… [kung saan] mas marami na ang bakunado at di na magkakahawahan.. maibabalik na ang dating sigla ng ating bayan. Kaya sana magpabakuna na po lahat,’’ she said, reiterating that vaccines work best against the disease.

Among the other highlights of the meeting include presentation of the current peace and order situation- statistics on cases of criminality and illegal drugs by Acting Chief of Police Noemi D. Diaz; Accomplishments on the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) by Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Shieralyn B. Esteban and 2LT Uldarico S. Facilan Jr. of Philippine Army; Report on the status of drug clearing in the municipality by Assistant Provincial Officer Marlou Ordoña of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA); Accomplishments of the Bureau of Fire Protection by Fire Marshal Salvador Espares and accomplishments of the LGU in disaster preparedness and response, as well as the initial plan of actions in anticipation of the possibility of Mt. Pinatubo eruption by Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Andy Divino.

Finally, the undertaking was ended with an awarding of the 2020 Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Special Award Marker by DILG Zambales Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad before the local government unit of Botolan, for sustaining the drug-free status of their unaffected barangays for years 2017-2019. The marker was personally handed by PD Bactad to Mayor Maniquiz and Vice Mayor Doris D. Ladines and witnessed by the POPS cluster and other local officials and functionaries.

Likewise, PD Bactad expressed her admiration and appreciation to the stakeholders of the LGU for always responding to the call of public service and for everyone’s hard and remarkable work in sustaining the generally peaceful and orderly situation in their locality and efforts in drug clearing matters.

Mayor Maniquiz, in response, thanked the national government agencies and the members of the POPS Cluster, as well as the barangay officials and reaffirmed that efforts for the welfare of the Botoleños shall remain the prime concern of the municipality.
