Bataan Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children (PCWC) awards the highly-functional Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) during its Provincial/City/Municipal/Barangay Councils for the Protection of Children Summit 2018 on December 27, 2018 at Lou-is Restaurant, Capitol Drive, Balanga City, Bataan.
The Provincial/City/Municipal/ Barangay Councils for the Protection of Children Summit, formerly known as Kabataan Awards, is an annual gathering made to highlight and acknowledge the efforts and initiatives of Bataan LCPCs at different levels who participated in every intervention facilitated by the PCWC. The event aims to encourage the sustainability of Child-Friendly Local Governance, observe good practices, establish linkage and strong coordination among LCPCs.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), an active member of the PCWC, is the Chairperson of the Task Force Monitoring Group in the assessment of the level of functionalities of LCPCs. The newest category to the awards being granted to the LGUs is the Search for Most Functional City/Municipality Council for the Protection of Children (C/MCPC) which was established just this year (2018) in addition to BCPC which was established way back 2015. Among the awardees were the following:
- LGU Mariveles – Most Functional Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (Level II)
- Brgy. Sta. Lucia, Samal – Most Functional Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (Level I)
- Brgy. Batangas II, Mariveles - Most Functional Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (LevelII)
- Brgy. Baseco, Mariveles - Most Functional Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (Level III)
Other highlights of the program were the delivery of the State of the Children Address by the PCWC Chairperson Hon. Albert S. Garcia and concession of the contributions of all stakeholders for the Movement.
Bataan is the only province in Region III that conducts this type of recognition through the Provincial/City/Municipal/ Barangay Councils for the Protection of Children Summit.
