On March 31, 2025, the Regional Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Force (RIMTF) conducted an onsite assessment and exit conference on the FY 2025 Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Functionality at the PSWDO Conference Room, Balanga City, Bataan.

The assessment focused on the functionality and effectiveness of LCPCs in safeguarding child welfare, evaluating four key areas based on DILG Memorandum Circular 2021-039: Organizational Sustainability, Policies and Plans for Children, Budget Allocation, and Service Delivery. The evaluation underscored Bataan’s strong compliance with national standards and its proactive initiatives in ensuring a child-friendly environment.

Actively participated in the assessment were members of the Bataan Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC), including Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Maria Cristina V. Lopez and Maria Cristina David, Focal Person; DILG Bataan LCPC Focal Person, LGOO III Michelle F. Samson; Provincial Planning and Development Office representatives Paulo Dominic Punzalan and Lucita Dela Peña; Provincial Health Office representative Alson Domingo; and CSO representative Edelberto Rolle. Their involvement highlighted the multi-sectoral collaboration driving Bataan’s child welfare programs.

As part of the visit, the RIMTF paid a courtesy call to Provincial Administrator Alicia Pizarro and Vice Governor Ma. Cristina M. Garcia, who conveyed the Governor’s unwavering support for programs and services benefiting children in the province. The visit emphasized the strong political will and leadership behind Bataan’s commitment to child-friendly governance.

During the exit conference, DILG Bataan Cluster Team Leader Cristy M. Blanco highlighted that Bataan’s efforts go beyond merely meeting minimum requirements. The province continuously strives to implement meaningful child protection programs that create a genuine, positive impact on children’s lives.

The RIMTF members present during the assessment included Dr. Melanie Briones (CCSFP), Ms. Rosemarie Fabro (RSCWS), Ms. Gennie Sombero (NEDA), Ms. Crisha Santos (NNC), LGOO V Pamela Herrera, LGOO IV Julius S. Leyva, and DMO III Aldrian Balmelero from DILG Region III.
With strong leadership and collaborative efforts, Bataan remains steadfast in ensuring that every child in the province enjoys a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.
