As part of the Building Resilience and Inclusive Democratic Governance and Engagements (BRIDGE) Project, the Galing Pook Foundation, in partnership with The Asia Foundation, held a two-day consultation meeting with Bataan’s Local Peace and Order Councils (LPOCs) on November 4-5, 2024, at Lou-Is Resort and Restaurant in Balanga City, Bataan.
Key stakeholders from various levels of Bataan’s Peace and Order Councils (POCs), including representatives from Dangcol Barangay POC (Balanga City), Wawa Barangay POC (Orion), Balanga City POC, Orion Municipal POC, Bataan Provincial POC, and Region III POC, participated in dedicated sessions that focused on sharing best practices, addressing challenges, and exploring strategies to strengthen local peace and order initiatives.
The BRIDGE Project, spearheaded by Galing Pook Foundation and The Asia Foundation in partnership with BARMM’s local government units, highlights the importance of community collaboration and innovation to boost local governance.
Notably, Galing Pook Foundation Chairperson and former DILG Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento, together with Gen. Noel “Barry” Baraceros (ret.) and Luigi Briones of the Galing Pook Foundation, recognized Bataan Province as a model for effective peace and order initiatives. Alex Mabpandi and BJ Misterio from The Asia Foundation also participated in the consultations, contributing valuable insights and expertise.
Mel Sarmiento acknowledged Bataan’s leadership in creating a safe and secure environment for its communities, emphasizing that the province’s practices are worthy of emulation by other regions.
