November 6, 2023 - The Sangguniang Kabataan Mandatory Training (SKMT) for the newly-elected SK officials in Nueva Ecija kicks off in the Municipality of Cuyapo. The Department of the Interior and Local Government Nueva Ecija, represented by PD Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr., CESO V and MLGOO Mary Kesia C. Guiang, in partnership with Nueva Ecija Provincial Youth Development Office, National Youth Commission, and Cuyapo Local Youth Development Office facilitated the first SKMT in the province. The 408 newly-elected SK officials from the 51 barangays of Cuyapo were clustered and trained at three venues, namely: Cluster 1 - Cuyapo Gym, Cluster 2 - Public Gym, and Cluster 3 - Cuyapo Municipal Hall. Right after the activity, the said SK Officials took their oath before Mayor Florida Paguio-Esteban. The SK Mandatory Training Program is designed as a one-day activity. Five topics are to be discussed in three modules. These include Decentralization and Local Governance, SK History and Salient Features, Meetings and Resolutions, Planning and Budgeting and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standard for Public Officers. DILG Officers and Department heads and other officials in the municipality of Cuyapo served as resource speakers and facilitators during the training The newly-elected SK Officials of the 849 barangays in Nueva Ecija are required to attend and participate in the SKMT before they can assume office pursuant to Republic Act No. 10742 or the SK Reform Law. Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr., CESO V, Provincial Director of DILG Nueva Ecija, graced the Provincial Cooperative Month Celebration 2023 with the theme "Cooperatives: Pioneering the Path to Recovery Amidst Modern Challenges of Climate Change and Food Security" on October 19, 2023 at the Nueva Ecija Convention Center, Palayan City. Atty. Tactac is one of the guests who shared a Cooperative Solidarity Message alongside Dir. Marieta P. Hwang, Regional Director of Cooperative Development Authority Region III, Hon. Emmanuel Antonio M. Umali, Vice Governor of the Province of Nueva Ecija, and Engr. Nolito G. Vergara, Chairperson of the Provincial Cooperative Development Council. The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija, led by Governor Aurelio M. Umali and the Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurship Development Office, led by Ms. Lorna Mae B. Vero, OIC-PCDO, in partnership with the Provincial Cooperative Development Council and the Liga ng mga Cooperative Development Officers ng Pilipinas - Nueva Ecija Chapter. The program started with the Opening of Trade Fair that was participated in by various cooperatives, where they showcased their products. A Cooperative Hub was also established by LandBank of the Philippines, PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig, and other National Government Agencies and Partners where they assisted cooperatives on their concerns. Also, part of the celebration is the Gawad Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kooperatiba, where the Provincial Winners for Micro, Small, Medium and Large Cooperatives were recognized. image 6483441 5The Local Government Unit of Guimba together with DILG Region III and DILG Nueva Ecija spearheaded the inauguration of the newly constructed 300-meter drainage canal in Barawid Street, Barangay St. John District, Guimba, Nueva Ecija last October 12, 2023. Funded under the F.Y. 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF), the project is envisioned to improve the water channel system and prevent Guimba’s población district from serving as catch basin by redirecting the floodwater coming from adjacent barangays. The inauguration was led by the Honorable Mayor Jesulito E. Galapon, DMD, and also graced by DILG Regional Director Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III, Provincial Director Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr., CESO V, Cluster Team Leader LGOO VII Dennis A. Daquiz, LGOO VI Katherine DL. Lapuz, LGOO V Leovielyn H. Aduna, PDMS Chief LGOO V Khalid F. Sungod and DILG Nueva Ecija Provincial Engineers. The newly constructed drainage canal will greatly benefit the residents, especially the students and teachers, who now don’t have to worry about traversing the flooded streets during the rainy season.  The Ease of Doing Business National Audit Team from DILG-Bureau of Local Government Development, DILG Central Luzon and DILG Nueva Ecija conducted rounds of audit on the five (5) Cities in the province, namely: Cabanatuan City, City of San Jose, Gapan City, Palayan City, and Science City of Muñoz. For the past five days, October 9-13, the said cities went through rigid on-site inspection of LGU facilities and infrastructure, interviews, and documentary review towards upgrading and continuous transparency, accountability, and effective delivery of public service. The national assessment is one of the phases in the implementation of Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business Law which aims to entice entrepreneurs to open up their businesses in the country by expediting business and non-business transactions including the issuances of permits and licenses and holding government officials accountable for graft and corruption. #DILG #UHAY #TresTheBest

Farmers and residents of Barangay Cabatuan and Barangay Colosboa, Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija are now assured of a better access road following the inauguration of the newly-paved 470 meters Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) funded under the F.Y. 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) of the DILG on October 12, 2023. The inauguration and ribbon cutting ceremony was led by Honorable Mayor Florida P. Esteban, M.D. and also participated in by DILG Regional Director Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III, Provincial Director Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr., CESO V, Cluster Team Leader LGOO VII Dennis A. Daquiz, LGOO VI Mary Kesia C. Guiang, LGOO V Leovielyn H. Aduna, and DILG Regional and Provincial Engineers. The Php 5,000,000.00 newly-concreted FMR is envisioned to benefit not only the 3662 residents of Brgy. Cabatuan and Brgy. Colosboa but also to provide convenience for students, workers, and other road users traversing from nearby barangays. The paved road will also bring forth better opportunities to the farmers, providing them with easier access when cultivating the land and transporting their agricultural produce to the market. #Uhay???? #TresTheBest
