The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Bataan conducted the BHERT-FRIENDS Project Online Webinar Series (OWS) Episodes 1 and 2 entitled: "Engaging BHERTs for a Safer Community" and "BHERTS in Action: Safeguarding the Community" on April 15 and 16, 2021 via Zoom.

"Ang BHERTs ay ang ating mga first responders at frontliners sa laban natin sa COVID-19," DILG Bataan Provincial Director Myra Moral-Soriano said in her message. "Ang webinar na ito ay isa ring pagsaludo at pasasalamat sa BHERTs na maituturing nating mga bayani ngayong pandemya," PD Soriano added.

The BHERT-FRIENDS project, which is in collaboration with DOH, aims to capacitate and mobilize the BHERTs by providing webinar series and information materials like pocket guides and AVPs. This will also strengthen the role of BHERTs in helping Bataenos navigate the public healthcare system.

The webinars were attended by C/MLGOOs, Punong Barangays and BHERTs of Bataan. It was intended to remind the PBs and BHERTs of their respective roles in addressing COVID-19 and strengthen the capacities of BHERT which is a community organization tasked with managing all COVID-related healthcare needs.

CLGOO Jomar Cruz of the City of Balanga and MLGOO Mildred Sazon of Orani presented facts about COVID-19, functions of BHERTs and management of COVID-19 in the community.
Resource speakers from DOH R3 and WHO Philippines were also tapped to reinforce the skills and knowledge of the participants from the barangays. Dra. Maria Belina Ibasco of DOH R3 discussed the vaccination program of the national government. WHO representative, Mr. Eugene Arbis likewise presented the Case Identification and Investigation, Case Finding and Case Management and Monitoring.

Further, Program Manager Allan Don Malonzo discussed quarantine and isolation while Cluster Team Leader Melissa Nipal provided the 'Safety Tricks and Tips for BHERT' which will be valuable for the BHERTs' day-to-day discharge of their duties and responsibilities in the community.

DILG is closely coordinating with DOH, LHOs and LGUs to ensure that BHERTs are equipped, visible and accessible in the community.
