To further equip themselves with the essential skills in executing their mandated functions, 51 SK officials of Bataan composed of SK chairpersons, kagawads, secretaries and treasurers completed the Sangguniang Kabataan Mandatory Training (SKMT) via Zoom online platform on October 27, 2020.
The said training, which is a requirement before any SK official can assume office, was designed to cover five significant topics as thoroughly discussed by the resource speakers from DILG Bataan. These included Decentralization and Local Governance, SK History and Salient Features, Meetings and Resolutions, Planning and Budgeting, and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials.
SK Provincial Federation President Precious Manuel urged the fellow SKs to work hand in hand in the implementation of their programs and encouraged them to keep on learning as youth leaders.
“Lagi kong tinatanong sa mga SK na nami-meet ko: what is your reason or ‘why’ kung bakit ka nag-SK,” Manuel articulated as she emphasized that every leader carries a big responsibility even at the barangay level. “Ang pagiging SK, isinasapuso. May alam ka man or wala sa batas na pinasok mo, kailangan matuto kang continuous na mag-aral,” she furthered.
Moreover, participants were able to actively raise questions and share insights on each topic during the breakout sessions and mind-mapping activities facilitated by the office’s Capability Development Section.
DILG Bataan PD Myra Moral-Soriano and Cluster Head Melissa Nipal, who were also present in the event, congratulated, inspired and challenged the attendees to build a powerful legacy in their respective communities.
