In a collaborative effort to strengthen the province's fight against illegal drugs, members of the Provincial, City and Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Councils in Bataan convened on April 23, 2024 at The Bunker's 4th Floor Conference Room for an orientation on the Barangay Drug Clearing Program and Community Based Drug Rehabilitation Program.
Led by Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III in coordination with DILG Bataan, PDEA and DOH Drug Treatment Rehabilitation Center, the session aimed to recalibrate council members across the province, cities, and municipalities on their roles and responsibilities in the fight against illegal drugs.
Emphasizing the critical role of assisting Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs) towards recovery and societal reintegration, the orientation highlighted drug dependence as a mental health issue. Additionally, strategies were discussed to sustain the hard-earned drug-cleared status of the 229 barangays up to the province. Notably 8 barangays are drug free.
The members of the ADAC includes the Local Chief Executive, Chief of Police, City/Municipal Local Government Operations Officer, Local Health Officer, Local Social Welfare and Development Officer, DepEd District Supervisor, Trial Court Judge, Information Officer, Civil Society Organization and Religious Sector Representative and LGU CBDRP Focal Persons.
As Bataan remains steadfast in its commitment to a drug-free future, collaborative efforts among stakeholders are vital in maintaining progress.
