BALANGA CITY, BATAAN – Personnel from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) San Fernando, Pampanga Branch visited the DILG Bataan Provincial Office on March 6, 2025, to strengthen public awareness and acceptance of the new First Philippine Polymer (FPP) Banknote Series.
Leading the BSP delegation were Deputy Director Mark Jason Cagalingan, Bank Officer IV Lourdes Laconsay, Bank Officer IV Michelle Anne Sicat and Confidential Assistant Jeffrey David. They were welcomed by DILG Bataan Provincial Director Belina T. Herman, CESO V, and OIC-Program Manager Mark Angelo Pumares.

The visit focused on promoting the benefits of the new polymer banknotes, which are available in 1000-, 500-, 100-, and 50-peso denominations. Compared to traditional paper banknotes, polymer banknotes offer enhanced security features, a lower environmental impact, and increased resistance to dirt and bacteria. They also have a longer lifespan, lasting two to five times longer than paper banknotes.

BSP emphasized that polymer banknotes retain their full value even when folded and should be accepted in all financial transactions. To support public awareness, BSP encourages local government units (LGUs) to share communication materials through various public channels. For further details, the public may visit the BSP website or contact the nearest BSP branch.
