DILG Regional Office 3 employees participated in the 3rd Quarter Earthquake Drill conducted by the Office of Civil Defense Region 3 on July 17, 2013 at Diosdado Macapagal Government Center, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.  The activity is in connection with the observance of the National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM) with the Theme, “Ligtas na Bayan, Maunlad na Pamayanan”.  Present during the activity were the members of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) 3, Pampanga and City of San Fernando DRRM, Medical Rescue Teams, UNTV Media, other local media and other regional agencies.

The drill was aimed to enable the participating government agencies to have familiarization exercise during the occurrence of an earthquake.  It began with a one minute siren along the government center where employees applied the “duck, cover, and hold method”.  Upon exit in the office building, they proceeded to the designated evacuation area within the government center.

A simulation of rescue operation was conducted afterwards rescuing earthquake victims who were trapped and injured.

To conclude, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 3, which played host to the drill, reminded all the participating employees to be calm when an earthquake happens and have presence of mind in going to security exits of the office premises.

The RDRRMC-3 advocates the regular conduct of earthquake drill in respective agency.
