The learning continues as Batch 2 of GADRISE: Gender and Development for a Resilient, Inclusive, and Sustainable Empowerment was successfully conducted on April 4, 2025, at the Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol Compound, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

A key highlight of the session was the heartfelt sharing of experiences by VAW Desk Officers, whose dedication to supporting victims of violence against women (VAW) continues to make a profound impact in their respective barangays.

Hon. Marites Canio of Barangay Paralaya, Candaba, shared how, even before officially assuming the role, she was already extending help to VAW victims out of genuine concern for their well-being.

Meanwhile, Mr. Joseph Laurence Magat of Barangay Sto. Rosario, Minalin, a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, expressed that while he may not be a woman, he has the heart of one. This, he said, made it natural for him to take on the role, knowing he could be a source of strength and support for those in need.

Ms. Maricel Sadsad, a VAW Desk Officer from Barangay Bebe Anac, Masantol, also shared the harsh realities they encounter daily, emphasizing the need for stronger support systems for victims.

This training reaffirmed the crucial role of VAW Desk Officers in furthering gender responsiveness and reinforcing community-based mechanisms to protect and empower vulnerable sectors.
