MAY PAG-ASA. Self-confessed drug dependent “enrollees” vow to stop using and peddling drugs and voluntarily subject themselves to the reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration program of the provincial government of Pampanga under brainchild program of Vice Gov Dennis Pineda dubbed as “Dalan Ning Pamagbayu.”
More than 10,000 self-confessed drug dependents and retailers surrender and take oaths on Thursday, July 21, to the joint forces of the Pampanga provincial government, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other government authorities.
Technically termed as “enrollees”, they took their oaths to put a stop to their usage and/or selling of illegal and abused drugs and subject themselves to the program launched of the provincial government entitled “Dalan Ning Pamagbayu” – Path to Change.
Brainchild of Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, the program seeks to reform, rehabilate and reintegrate the enrollees through undergoing three (3) stages, namely: identification and profiling; treatment and rehabilitation; and, reintegration.
In a speech by Philippine National Police Regional Director Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino, the regional police force is thankful for the unwarranted cooperation and commitment of the provincial government under the stern leadership of Governor Lilia Pineda on the battle against the proliferate abuse of drugs.
He also added that PNP Provincial Director Rodolfo Recomono, Jr.’s presentation to him of the enrollees does not stop the operation of PRO3 regarding drugs. The voluntary surrender shall not make the police force lax on monitoring and fighting against those who continue to abuse the prohibited addictive substances.
“Tandaan 'nyo, ang kapulisan ay hindi nakikipag-bolahan sa inyo. Mabuti at nandito kayo at sumurender sa amin kasi tatlo (3) lang ang maari nyong puntahan: Mamatay kayo, sumurender kayo, o maaresto kayo,” PNP RD Aquino impressed.
With this, Governor Pineda pleaded to the confessors to stop the abuse and sell of drugs for she doesn’t want any Kapampangan to be killed and hurt under her care. Vice Gov “Delta” Pineda promised that the provincial government is ready to help the reformees through livelihood, employment, and scholarship programs to those who shall be able to complete the course of rehabilitation.
