Demonstrating its commitment to earthquake preparedness and community safety, DILG Bataan participated in the second quarter nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill (NSED) today, June 28, 2024.
During the drill, all personnel in the office promptly executed the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" protocol, simulating a real-time response to a ground-shaking scenario. After these initial safety steps, staff efficiently evacuated the building and regrouped in a designated safe open area.
A thorough head count was conducted by DRRM Focal Person LGOO III Michelle Samson, followed by a debriefing session led by CDS Chief LGOO V Mark Angelo Pumares, to discuss the drill's execution and other reminders.
This quarterly exercise is a crucial component of nationwide preparedness efforts, aimed at building resilient communities that can effectively respond to tremors and other emergencies. Since natural disasters can strike without warning, such drills are essential in ensuring that DILG Bataan personnel are prepared to protect themselves and serve the public in times of crisis.
