The spirit of 1Bataan was once again vividly displayed as local functionaries from the 13 provincial, city, and municipal LGUs of the peninsula gathered for the Provincial Orientation on the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on May 17, 2024, at Lou-is Restaurant, City of Balanga, Bataan.

The event was jointly planned and facilitated by DILG Bataan and the Provincial Government of Bataan, providing a platform for a comprehensive discussion of the indicators under 10 assessment areas.

Representing Governor Joet Garcia in the activity, OIC-Provincial Administrator Alice Pizarro delivered an opening remarks. Meanwhile, DILG Bataan PD Belina Herman conveyed a message of inspiration, challenge, and gratitude to the participants, and presented the activity overview.

This year's SGLG season is particularly critical for all the LGUs as they fervently aim to maintain or even surpass the previous accomplishments of the province in this DILG flagship program. It can be recalled that last year, 12 out of the 13 LGUs earned the coveted Seal, giving Bataan the highest percentage of passers among provinces in the country.

To further elevate the LGUs' understanding of the all-in principle, which requires excellence in all 10 governance areas, DILG Bataan personnel, including LGOO VI Laverne Gonzales Jr., LGOO VI Danilyn Peña, LGOO II Ayla Theresa Bugay, and ADA VI Joseph Castro, led the sessions. An open forum was also facilitated to clarify issues and gather feedback from the participating C/MLGOOs and LGU personnel.

Following the orientation, LGUs are expected to undergo a rigorous assessment process, which includes document reviews, interviews, and onsite validations. It is worth noting that the SGLG, as the most prestigious award given by the Department, is awarded only to LGUs that have performed excellently in delivering public service through compliance with pertinent national laws and guidelines.
