The Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR) and DILG Bataan conducted a short course training on RA 9285 or the Katarungang Pambarangay Law for the members of the Sangguniang Barangay and Lupong Tagapamayapa from the 11 municipalities of the province today at Bulwagan ng Bayan, Dinalupihan, Bataan.
With the expertise of Atty. Alkaid Maniquis and Atty. Ali Loraine Manrique of OADR, the participants were provided with the additional knowledge on organizational, administrative, procedural, and jurisdictional aspects of the ADR mechanisms, and stages of mediation under the said law.
Following the discussion, a mock trial and simulation exercises were facilitated by the resource speakers to verify the procedures and roles actually practiced by the barangays.
Present also in the activity were PD Belina Herman, CTL Cristy Blanco, Dinalupihan MLGOO Cheryl Beltran and DILG Bataan personnel.
The overall objective of the one-day training is to educate barangay justice implementers about the organization, processes, and implementation of the Katarungang Pambarangay Law, as well as to provide clarity on procedures within the KP system and support the barangays in effectively managing disputes at the barangay level.
