Yet another significant milestone in advancing peace and development in the province, a ceremonial activity took place at The Bunker today, officially declaring Bataan under a State of Stable Internal Peace and Security.
This declaration aligns with the Provincial Peace and Order Council (POC) Resolution No. 4, Series of 2024, affirming that the province is relatively peaceful and generally unaffected by communist insurgency. The resolution further underscores the province's bolstered internal security mechanisms, a result of collaborative efforts among the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, members of city and municipal POCs, and the Provincial Government of Bataan.
“Let us not perceive this declaration as the culmination of our efforts but rather as a renewed call to action. As we celebrate this achievement, let us commit ourselves to the principles of unity and progress,” Bataan Governor Joet Garcia stressed, urging everyone to remain vigilant and uphold peace and security in the province.
Meanwhile, DILG Region 3 Assistant Regional Director Jay Timbreza, with a promise of support, commended the declaration in tandem with the province's strategic planning process and its inclusive approach. “Patuloy po ang pag-unlad ng Bataan; at kasama po ninyo ang DILG. Tutulong po kami lalung-lalo na po sa pag-establish ng good local governance,” stated ARD Timbreza.
Moreover, DILG Bataan Provincial Director Belina Herman elaborated on the background leading to the approval of the resolution. PD Herman emphasized the prerequisite for all city and municipal POCs to have completed certain criteria before the PPOC can declare the province under a state of stable internal peace and security.
Among the participants were Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Division Commander MGEN Andrew Castelo, 702nd Infantry Brigade Commander BGEN Gulliver Señirez, 69th Infantry Battalion Commander LTC Sonny Dungca, PNP Region 3 Deputy Regional Director for Operations PCOL Rudecindo Reales, Bataan Police Provincial Office Director PCOL Palmer Tria, BM Popoy Del Rosario, DILG Bataan CTL Cristy Blanco and OIC-PM Danilyn Peña, local chief executives, uniformed personnel, and other members of the PPOC.
