DILG Undersecretary for Local Government Austere   Panadero, together with the DILG Region III Management headed by Regional Director Florida M. Dijan, convened on August 21, 2013 at DILG Regional Operation Center, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.  The meeting was aimed to assess the level of the region’s LGU Disaster Preparedness with the onslaught of Typhoon “Maring” and “Habagat”.

  

    In line with the continuous advocacy on accountable, transparent, participative and effective Local Governance at the local levels for the vision of every Filipino for improved quality of life, DILG Regional Office III, in partnership with various NGAs & local leagues, conducted an Orientation on Local Governance which covers a capability-building program for the new set of local officials on July 8-26, 2013 at Subic International Hotel, Olongapo City.  The program aims to equip the newly – elected Local Officials to include first termers City/Municipal Vice-Mayors and first termers SangguniangPanglungsod/Pambayan with the necessary knowledge and attitude to effectively and efficiently manage their respective localities during their first term of office redirecting their individual potential strengths towards genuine public service.

  

     DILG Region III, in partnership with the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Committee (HUDCC), facilitated the conduct of Seminar-Workshop on the Development of Local Shelter Plan (LSP) for the LGUs of Nueva Ecija on July 16-19, 2013 at Maharajah Hotel, Angeles City.   Participants were different department heads from Cabanatuan City, Gapan City, Palayan City, Science City of Munoz, San Jose City and the Municipality of Cabiao, all of Nueva Ecija.  The activity was aimed to provide the necessary technical assistance to these six LGUs in crafting their respective LSP.

   The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 3, in partnership with Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), conducted a Seminar Workshop on the Development of Local Shelter Plan on June 18 – 21, 2013 at the Forest View Leisure Park, Subic Freeport Zone, Olongapo City.

     To increase the level of awareness of LGUs on the utility value and application of multi-hazard maps in the mitigation and management of natural disasters, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 3 in coordination with, DENR-MGB3, OCD3, DOST-PAGASA and DOST-Project NOAH, is presently conducting a one-day training for LGUs on the Understanding of Multi-Hazard Maps, their Usage and Application in Local Development Planning.

  

  The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 3 through the leadership of Regional Director Florida Dijan has conducted an orientation course program entitled “Be BOLD (Be an Outstanding LeaDer and aim for the BEST (Business-Friendly, Environment Protective, Climate Change Adaptive and Disaster Resilient, Socially Protective and Safe, Transparent, Accountable, Effective and Participative LGUs): An Orientation on Local Governance” on June 18-20, 2013 at Subic International Hotel, SBMA, Zambales.
