DILG Nueva Ecija Family once again showcased its absolute support to environmental programs and green initiatives through the recently held KBP Oplan BroadcasTreeing 2014, a national tree-planting activity simultaneously held by provinces, in a corroborative effort with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
The tree-planting was participated in by 2,128 people from the government and non-government organizations, private sectors including schools and KBP Nueva Ecija Chapter members 101.5 Big Sound-FM, 1188 DZXO-AM, DWJJ and DWNE. Through the activity which was held on August 30, 2014 at the National Greening Program (NGP) Site, Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, 5,500 Narra seedlings, 5,500 Mahogany seedlings and 10 giant Bamboo trees were planted.
The activity kicked off with the motorcade, headed by Philippine National Police-Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office (PNP-NEPPO), from Freedom Park, Cabanatuan City to Fort Magsaysay.
DILG Provincial Director/concurrent Assistant Regional Director Abraham A. Pascua headed the DILG team and also represented Governor Aurelio M. Umali. In his message during the short ceremonial program prior to the tree-planting activity, ARD Pascua said that the DILG has a mandate to barangays to plant 25,000 seedlings per barangay until 2016. In behalf of Gov. Umali, he said that the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija supports the advocacy of the NGP.
After the short program, the group proceeded to the ceremonial tree planting site where 50 ceremonial seedlings were planted, in which one soldier was assigned to each seedling, while the other participants proceeded to the tree planting areas. The tree planting site was hosted by the 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, headed by BGen. Glorioso V. Miranda, represented by BGen. Elmer Pabale, Assistant Division Commander.

ARD Abraham A. Pascua, Ph.D., CESO III, DILG Provincial Director and concurrent Assistant Regional Director, and Co-Chairman of NE Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, called for a meeting today, August 13, 2014, 10 am, at the DILG Provincial Office, Old Capitol Compound, Cabanatuan City, to orient the PPDRMO, PPDO and Provincial Engineer on Enhancing Geo- Hazards Mapping through LIDAR- one of the components of the Project NOAH. ARD Pascua instructed them to get the coordinates of the evacuation centers and other disaster facilities in the province. (In the photo: Program Manager Fortunato M.
