DILG Secretary Mar A. Roxas graced the Opening Ceremony of this year’s Celebration of Sining at Kalinangan ng Bulacan (SINGKABAN) Festival on September 9, 2013 with the theme, “Makulay na Sining at Kalinangan Bulacan, Ipagmalaki at Ikarangal!!”
In his special message, he stated that celebrations such as this help us remember what our forefathers fought for: “freedom and independence”.
He encouraged everyone to join hands in the fight against the new challenge of this generation; the fight against poverty and lack of opportunities.
He also commended and congratulated the people of Bulacan for continuously enriching the culture of the province. His maternal grandmother is from San Miguel, Bulacan.
SILG received a very prestigious award, “Natatanging GAWAD DANGAL ng LIPI” handed by Governor Alvarado and Vice Governor Fernando.
Also present during the celebration were DILG Regional Director Florida M. Dijan, PD Darwin D. David with DILG Bulacan Personnel and Local Officials and Functionaries of Bulacan.
