The Department of the Interior and Local Government – Region III facilitated the Orientation on the 2017 Peace and Order Councils Performance Audit on August 28-29, 2018 at Subic Peninsular Hotel, Subic Bay Freeport Zone. It was attended by POC members of seven (7) provinces particularly the DILG as head secretariat, PNP, LGU officials and functionaries, and the Regional Audit Team (RAT) composed of DILG, AFP, PNP and PDEA personnel.

The orientation was an imperative part of the process in order to have a levelling of understanding on the protocols, tools and guidelines as well as to ensure that the Provincial Audit Teams (PATs) are prepared for the 1st level audit scheduled on September 2018.

"For this year it will be used for benchmarking and inventory purposes" cited by LG-MED Chief Lerrie S. Hernandez. However, it could be integrated in the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in the coming years otherwise could be a ground for appropriate legal actions if compliance will be taken for granted. Further, Ms. Hernandez emphasized that this initiative by the Department aims to strengthen all Peace and Order Councils nationwide.
The POC audit has five (5) pillars namely; Organization, Meeting, Policies, Plan and Budget, Reports and Innovation.

A roll-out activity will be conducted by the DILG Provincial Offices to capacitate their respective City and Municipal Peace and Order Councils.
