To strengthen the capacities of barangays and local government units (LGUs) of the province to the national government's campaign against illegal drugs, DILG Bataan lead the conduct of the Strengthening Institutional Capacities of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (SICAP-BADAC) via Zoom on November 15-17, 2021.
The activity also presented the new Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) policies which was attended by the 237 barangays of Bataan and the provincial and city/municipal ADAC members of the province.
DILG Bataan partnered with various national government agencies to provide the local ADACs the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively perform their duties and functions.
These composed of resource speakers from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Regional Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (RJJWC), DOH-Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DTRC) Bataan, National Youth Commission (NYC) and Commission on Human Rights (CHR).
The three-day training covered topics on BADAC duties, youth and drug prevention, barangay drug clearing program, CBDRP, human rights and gender-sensitive approaches and aftercare and reintegration programs.
"This activity is to reinforce the gains of the government, LGUs and the barangays sa ating kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga", stated by PD Myra Moral-Soriano in her message.
"Let us not be complacent. These are efforts to sustain the drug-cleared status of our province", PD Soriano added, highlighting the different approaches of the concerned agencies in their topics related to BADAC and their advocacy against drug abuse.
Program Manager Allan Don Malonzo, LGOO III Danilyn Pena and LGOO II Joanna Marie Cruz of DILG Bataan Provincial Office also assisted in the conduct of the said training.
With the ongoing pandemic, the barangays and LGUs of the province, in coordination with DILG Bataan and concerned NGAs will continue to intensify their capacities and implement strategies in the fight against illegal drugs particularly at the grassroots level.
