In line with the continuous commitment of the Department to assist the local government units in the fight against illegal drugs, a follow-through orientation for barangay tanods was held by DILG Bataan at Brgy. Dona Francisca Court, Balanga City, Bataan on November 12, 2021.
The activity provided the barangay tanods from the 25 barangays of Balanga the knowledge and skills to effectively perform their duties and strengthen their roles and functions in the campaign against street-level illegal drug trade.
In her message, DILG Bataan Provincial Director Myra Moral-Soriano stated that the training is a recognition of the important roles of tanods in maintaining peace and order in their barangays and will ultimately strengthen the efforts to sustain the "drug-cleared" status of the province.
"Sa training na ito, kayo ay mga estudyante na matututunan ang inyong mga importanteng tungkulin as first responders sa paglaban sa ilegal na droga. At inaaasahan namin na kayo naman ang magsisilbing guro at ang magbigay ng kaalaman pagbalik natin sa ating barangay", PD Soriano added.
PDEA R3 Information Officer Glen Guillermo presented the salient features of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, particularly the provisions on unlawful acts and penalties.
Roles of barangay tanods on anti-drug operations and the updated guidelines of the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) were also discussed by IO Guillermo.
CLGOO Jomar Cruz and personnel from the DILG Bataan provincial office assisted in the conduct of the training and also discussed the following topics:

• Barangay Drug Clearing Program
• Human-Rights Based Approach in the Performance of BADAC duties
• Child-friendly approach in the Performance of BADAC duties
• Gender-sensitive approach in the performance of BADAC duties
• Youth and Drug Prevention and Strengthening Family Ties
• Roles of BADAC on Aftercare and Reintegration Program
City of Balanga Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) President Ernesto Nisay, City Councilor Pedro Yuzon, Jr. and Chief Operations Officer Jobeth Balana of the City Peace and Order Office also graced the activity.
