CLARK, Pampanga – Two months after taking their oath, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in Central Luzon underwent a legislative enhancement course to prepare and add to their knowledge in local legislation.

 The Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines (PBMLP)-Region III, in coordination with DILG Bataan, organized the said activity titled "Legislative Enhancement and Advancement Program (LEAP): A Capacity Development Training for Provincial Board Members of Central Luzon" held on August 25-26, 2022 at Quest Hotel, Clark, Pampanga.

The activity strengthened the capability of the newly-minted, come backing and re-elected Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) members and boosted on their important roles in crafting responsive laws and policies that would help in the development of their respective provinces.
Local law-related issues were also discussed and Supreme Court decisions were presented in the said training.

In his message, BM Manuel Beltran of the 2nd District of Bataan and PBMLP R3's Chairperson, highlighted the importance of the activity and encouraged the SP members to advance their knowledge in local legislation.

The LEAP course focused on the context, processes and jurisprudence on local legislation, namely:
• Roles of Legislators and Jurisprudence in Local Legislation - Atty. Jacqueline Paulino (DILG R3);
• Legislative Process, Parliamentary Rules and Legislative Review (Atty. Romeo Benitez, DILG Central Office)
• Accreditation of Civil Society Organizations (PD Belina T. Herman, CESO V)

The training was participated by R3's Provincial Board Members and SP Secretaries. Notable attendees also include Bataan Vice Governor Cris Garcia and Bulacan Vice Governor Alex Castro.

PBMLP Vice President for Luzon Ram Revilla, PBMLP National President Atty. Ananias Canlas and DILG R3 Regional Director Karl Caesar Rimando also graced the said activity.
