The City Government of Olongapo, in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, convened the representatives and members of the Barangay Children’s Organizations (CO) for the 2019 Children’s Assembly on October 30 at Barangay West Bajac-Bajac, Covered Court to promote Children’s right to participatory governance.


“As Children Representatives, you have a great contribution to convey the needs of children to our local officials,” said DILG City Director Amada T. Dumagat to the participants. “You should help in nurturing the children of Olongapo City,” she added.
As part of the activity, Rosalie Abarca, Assistant CSWDO, discussed the basic rights of children, their role in local governance and the duties and functions of the officers of the Federation of the Children’s Organizations.
Afterwards, the CO members of each barangay elected the officers of the Federation of Olongapo Children’s Organizations. The City Social Welfare and Development Office and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation-OC Chapter spearheaded the said election.
After the canvassing of votes, the following emerged as the Federation of Olongapo Children’s Organizations Officers: Angeline Libril – President; Madelyn Timpug– Vice-President; Rei Almine Cinco– Secretary; Kenneth Magsilang – Treasurer; Xyreen Samson – Auditor; Juan Escalona– Public Relations Officer; and Jaynalyn Birang Birang– PIO 2.
The elected president of the Federation of Olongapo Children shall be a member of the Olongapo City Council for the Protection of Children and advocate for children’s welfare and participation in local governance.
