The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Olongapo City provided Orientation on Katarungang Pambarangay for the Lupong Tagapamayapa members of Barangay Asinan on October 22, 2019.


Punong Barangay Gregorio Elane, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of Katarungang Pambarangay in resolving disputes at their level and in the decongestion of cases filed in courts. He also urged his lupon members to continuously learn in order to upscale their performance and deliver better service.
DILG City Director Amada T. Dumagat enumerated the legal bases and purposes of Katarungang Pambarangay, as well as the duties and functions of lupon members, and the cases within and outside the scope of KP. CD Dumagat also encouraged the participants to improve their performance rating on Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards.
LGOO II Vincent E. Catacutan presented the criteria of LTIA which measure the performance of the barangays in the implementation of KP such as Efficiency in Operation, Effectiveness in Securing the Settlement of Interpersonal Dispute, Creativity and Resourcefulness, Area or Facility for KP Activities and Financial or Non-Financial Support.
Katarungang Pambarangay is a system of dispute resolution instituted in all barangays in order to promote, among others, the speedy administration of justice, by providing all avenues to an amicable settlement. It aims to be a vehicle toward social order and peaceful community.
