Capas, Tarlac- the Municipality of Capas, Tarlac recently earned the distinction as a drug-cleared municipality declared by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Director Gil T. Pabilona on December 10.

Capas was given a certification stating that the municipality is drug-free after complying with the 14 parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) as provided in Section 8, DDB Board Regulation No. 3 Series of 2017, otherwise known as “Strengthening the Implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program.”

The certification was awarded to Mayor Reynaldo L. Catacutan together with the LGU’s key actors who made an effort and contributed to the success of the Drug Clearing Program.

The momentous event coincided with this year’s celebration of Capas Day and was attended by the Barangay Anti-drug Abuse Council (BADAC) members of the 20 barangays of Capas, members of the Municipal Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Operations, local officials and functionaries, and other guests.

According to Hon. Catacutan, Capas being a drug cleared municipality is not only a great achievement for peace and order but also for the local economy as it is expected to usher in many investors.

The Municipality of Capas is the second town in Tarlac to be declared as drug cleared next to the Municipality of Ramos, which was awarded in 2017. By LGOO II Maharlina Tejada
