Government of Olongapo, conducted Training for Contact Tracers (CTs) on October 27 at the SMX Convention Center, Olongapo City to capacitate the Batch 2 of the agency's newly hired CTs.


37 Contact Tracers participated in the training guided and facilitated by DILG City Director Amada T. Dumagat, LGOO V Fernando M. Erese, Jr., LGOO III Vincent E. Catacutan and Olongapo City Health Office represented by Dr. Machiavelli L. Ambion and Dr. Maria Regina Pia R. D'Asis.
CD Dumagat, during her message, commended the CTs for courageously facing the risk to help their city in eliminating the threat of COVID-19. She emphasized, "Always remember our instructions, and instill in your hearts and minds all the things that you will learn this day so that you can use them appropriately in the performance of your duty."
Among the topics discussed were competencies of contact tracers, significance of contact tracing to maintain public safety and health security, COVID-19 symptoms and transmission, steps in contact tracing, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
The CTs also took simulation exercises such as mock case and contact interview to further enhance their contact tracing skills.
The said activity aims to prepare the newly hired contact tracers for their actual field operation to greatly support Olongapo City in containing the spread of COVID-19 virus.
"The yesterday training enhanced my skills and knowledge. It enlightens me with the job that I applied for. It helps me to do a proper way of interacting with a contact," said Jessy Legaspi, Batch 2 Contact Tracer.
