CITY OF MALOLOS, BULACAN- The Barangay Summit 2019, spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Bulacan and in coordination with DILG Bulacan and Bulacan Police Provincial Office (BPPO), was conducted on September 16, 17, 18, 20, and 24, 2019 at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, City of Malolos, Bulacan. This year's theme of the Barangay Summit focuses on the areas of health and solid waste management.
The said Summit was attended by Punong Barangays together with the officials from the Provincial Government and representatives from DILG Bulacan and BPPO.


All 569 Punong Barangays in the Province of Bulacan participated in the activity wherein they were divided by district and were oriented on different topics related to health and solid waste management, to wit: status of dengue and rabies in Bulacan; implementation of responsible pet ownership; overview on the African Swine Flu (ASF) and polio; implementation of road clearing operations; implementation of the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Program (MBCRPP) and weekly clean-up activities; celebration of the International Coastal Clean-Up (ICC) Day; proper Solid Waste Management (SWM); implementation of the Anti-Littering Ordinance; and the 2019 Awarding of the Kalinisan at Kaayusan ng Kapaligiran (KKK) sa Barangay.
Resource Speakers emphasized the importance of the roles and functions of the Barangay Officials, especially the Punong Barangays, as mandated by existing policies and pertinent laws on health and solid waste management. Barangay Summit Kits were distributed to the participants which will serve as their checklist and guide on the implementation of their duties and responsibilities.
On the part of the Provincial Government, they emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment and related it to the emergence of different outbreaks such as dengue and polio. They also highlighted that prevention is better than mitigation.
Punong Barangays were also encouraged to further intensify their efforts in maintaining the cleanliness of the environment in order to prevent and lessen the incidence of outbreaks in the province. ####
