The Provincial Assessment Committee (PAC) headed by the DILG Bulacan with representatives from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office and Civil Society Organization, conducted the Barangay Environmental Compliance Audit(BECA) on November 4-5, 2021.
The said audit aims to assess the compliance of Barangays to pertinent provisions of Republic Act No. 9003 or otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
The following are the selected Barangays visited by the PAC for the audit:
Brgy. Bagong Barrio, Pandi
Brgy. Bagumbayan, Bocaue
Brgy. Gayagaya, City of San Jose Del Monte
Brgy. Matimbubong, San Ildefonso
Brgy. Pansumaloc, San Rafael
Brgy. Pantoc, Meycauayan
Brgy. Pinagbarilan, Baliwag
Brgy. Pitpitan, Bulakan
Brgy. Poblacion, Pulilan
Brgy. Pulong Buhangin, Sta. Maria
Brgy. San Jose, Plaridel
Brgy. Santol, Balagtas
Brgy. Tiaong, Guiguinto
The PAC assessed the actual audit modes of verification (MOV) documents, visited the Barangays’ Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) and conducted table discussion with Barangay functionaries.
This year’s activity will serve as the pilot implementation of the audit, wherein 569 Barangays in Bulacan will be assessed based on the 1st Quarter 2020 to 2nd Quarter 2021 accomplishments.
Other related activities will follow such as the final deliberation, submission of nominated barangays and the awarding of the best performing barangay on environmental compliance for City and Municipal category.
The Provincial Best Performing Barangay on Environmental Compliance for City and Municipality category will be conferred with a Certificate of Recognition from the PAC while the Regional Best Performing Barangay on Environmental Compliance for the same categories will be conferred with a Plaque of Excellence and Cash prize to be utilized for environmental programs and projects.
